Alexandria, Va. (September 12, 2018) -- Today, the Baltimore Washington Laborers' District Council (BWLDC), an affiliate of the Laborers' International Union of North America (LIUNA), announced its endorsement of Michelle Rief for Alexandria School Board District A. The BWLDC's jurisdiction includes Alexandria City, as well as most counties across the Commonwealth of Virginia. 

“Michelle Rief is a union member and activist who strongly supports the rights of workers,” said David Allison, Business Manager of the BWLDC. “Earlier this year, Ms. Rief walked the picket line with Didlake employees fighting to form a union—demonstrating her commitment to stand up and draw attention to labor issues.”

In addition to Ms. Rief's union background, she is also a parent of Alexandria public school students and an officer of the Alexandria PTA Council.

Across the DMV, the BWLDC seeks to endorse and support candidates for elected office who align with the values of its members. The endorsement of Michelle Rief for Alexandria School Board District A is part of that effort.
